Multimillion-dollar Cybersecurity Firm Does its Business Here at theClubhou.se
Last year, Ad hoc Research set aside four hours to demonstrate its cybersecurity visualization and modeling technology to government clients at AFCEA TechNet Augusta. It ended up demoing its services for eight hours—resulting in several multimillion contracts.
That success, says Bill Platte, vice president of business development, was facilitated thanks to theClubhou.se.
With its main offices in Maryland and Plano, Texas, Ad hoc’s Augusta office inside theClubhou.se supports four employees. While it’s not as large as its other locations, theClubhou.se office has become a funnel, helping Ad hoc earn new clients and investigate a growing workforce pipeline.
When Platte joined Ad hoc two years ago, he already knew about theClubhou.se through a previous employer with an office at the Georgia Cyber Center. He considered other offices, including those in the cyber center itself. But especially for a branch office his size, he says, “theClubhou.se quite honestly offers just as much, if not more… we’re in a world-class facility talking to world-class people.”

Work with a view.
For events like TechNet, which happens annually at the Augusta Marriott, theClubhou.se places Ad hoc just one block away from potential clients. And inside theClubhou.se’s gorgeous conference room space that overlooks the Savannah River, business gets done. “People come here instead of us going everywhere to meet the people,” adds Kevin Krackenberger, director of concepts and experimentation. “It’s a huge benefit, and that view is hard to beat.”
Ad hoc’s custom membership includes hot desks for its four employees and up to 30 hours of reservable conference room time each month, plus recognition as a Silver member, among other benefits. “We use the conference rooms mainly, but we have the ability to come in and the coffee’s already here, snacks are available, and people are always here,” says Platte. “I like meeting new people and finding out what they’re working on.”
That includes checking in with theClubhou.se cofounder Eric Parker or Georgia Cyber Center leaders about new opportunities for collaboration that could lead to business or onboarding new talent. Then there’s also what’s known as social engineering; as an example, Krackenberger says a chance conversation led him to meet with a programmer working at theClubhou.se. “He was doing something that interested me that could be used on our platform, but I would have never known it had I not been down here to be introduced and understand what they’re building.
“The innovation that happens here sort of naturally is a key aspect for theClubhou.se.”
