The Virtual Working Experience

Thriving in flux is an ever-present attribute of theClubhou.se. Our response to the COVID-19 outbreak is creating virtual options for our community. We have established Daily Check-Ins using Google Meets for our members to remain connected and accountable to each other. Many of our club meetings are developing remote opportunities, as well. Members of theClubhou.se may still come to the Georgia Cyber Center, if necessary. Please practice social distancing and utilize the space’s hand sanitizer.

We are also creating an online marketplace for members of theClubhou.se to list their products and services. Many products can be purchased outright, while some are offered as gift certificates redeemable in the future. Members, apply to have your business represented!

As so many of our interactions are moving to the virtual meeting format, we decided we would share some of our own practices for maintaining focus and having productive meetings.

Virtual Meeting Best Practices

For moderators:

  • Establish a moderator to maintain an orderly flow of conversation. This person should likely not be a person who will be doing a lot of the talking.

  • Begin the virtual meeting by concisely stating the goals of the meeting and having everyone quickly introduce themselves.

  • Many platforms have a chat where attendees can post questions or “raise their hand”

For attendees:

  • Choose a quiet setting

  • Wear headphones if possible

  • Avoid a brightly lit background. Keep lights in front of you

  • Utilize the mute button if you have background noise
