Sixty seconds is all you need to get your idea across to a packed room at theClubhou.se!
In partnership with the Fort Gordon Cyber District, theClubhou.se hosted Startup Junkies Consulting to present the G60 Pitch Contest here in Augusta. Entrepreneurs and those with startup ideas delivered pitches with the hope of winning one of two $1,000 checks as either the People’s Choice or the Judges’ Choice.
Pitches could not exceed 60 seconds and the audience began their applause at the one minute mark and the next presenter stepped forward. This concise approach enabled the entrepreneurs to present a problem that exists in the world, the challenges associated with it, and their solution. The judges for the G60 were Mayor Hardie Davis of Augusta, Colin Comfort of Matova, and theClubhou.se founder Eric Parker.
Pitches were delivered in rapid succession! Angel Andino kicked off the evening with his the virtual reality entertainment business followed by Peer-to-Peer tech support, affordable and local software development, and Gordon Jones’ blockchain-based cryptocurrency for health finance. Jennifer Tinsley’s ‘Field Botanicals’ brought an organic aroma to the room and Jonathan Larry shared about ‘Upliff’, his positive content social media platform. And many more ideas including a health fitness all-in-one community, creative cuisine using locally sourced produce, a mobile science lab for kids, a new approach to hand sanitizer, and a virtual reality 3D interface for the internet. And even more!
Judge Eric Parker shared, “With over 30 entries from the community, almost all of the judges’ favorites were from members of theClubhou.se. I’m very happy for the validation that our programs really help entrepreneurs’ businesses succeed.”
Following the pitches, attendees voted for their favorite idea and the votes were selected. The judges stepped away to deliberate and the votes were tallied, resulting in two agricultural ideas winning!
Jesse Lafian won the Judges Prize with his idea for remote soil-moisture data collection. This new technology allows for the optimization of irrigation — saving time, trees, and water. For his company Reservoir, LLC, the goal is to improve irrigation for landscapers — and then for others, including farmers, golf-course superintendents, and homeowners.
Daniel Scheiner of Skyraider Aeronautics won the People’s Choice Prize. Skyraider is a drone company which provides agricultural support to regional farmers, as well as a variety of other drone services.
Thank you to all the dreamers who came out to share their ideas! It was a wonderful evening to see all that is happening in Augusta. And thank you to Fort Gordon Cyber District for sponsoring this event, Startup Junkies Consulting for providing the prizes and sharing their event, and Matova for providing refreshments.
