For Serious Entrepreneurs Only

Are you serious about growing your company? Have you joined ATDC? The Advanced Technology Development Center is one of our most active community partners in helping provide support for startups in the Augusta’s rapidly growing Cyber District. For the last five years, we’ve focused our energies on providing a central place for the developers to meetup, makers to experiment and share, and for entrepreneurs to cowork and grow their business. Over the last two years, ATDC has been our key partner in providing rigor to help translate that activity into scalable businesses.

That rigor is focused in three key areas, coaching, curriculum, and improved access to capital.

Coaching starts through Founders Circle. We have organized a Founders Circle group that meets every Wednesday morning at 9am since 2013, and have been fortunate to have an ATDC Catalyst participate in the group for the last two years. At Founders Circle, startup founders learn from each other and set goals for their business to help maintain accountability. ATDC members can also schedule one on one office hours to get in depth coaching focused on their business.

Curriculum is divided into two primary areas. The second Wednesday of every month, ATDC organizes Lunch and Learns at theClubhou.se on different entrepreneur topics ranging from customer discovery, to cyber and other technology business opportunities, to how to raise capital.

Twice a year, they also run a cohort based accelerator program; Startup Bootcamp. At Startup Bootcamp, entrepreneurs will learn Lean Startup methodology and begin the iteration process in their specific startup. Once market approach is defined, ATDC works with entrepreneurs to develop the financial plans necessary to raise investment capital.

Capital is an essential need for every startup. ATDC startups have raised $2.9B  since 1980. While we have to admit that the vast majority and history of that has occurred in Atlanta, I can give you three examples of channels for Augusta based companies as well. My own company started with our Executive Director (shout out to Grace!), P4R75  was given the opportunity to present at the 2016 Startup Showcase in Atlanta. This presentation lead to working with the Georgia Center of Innovation for Manufacturing. Through these relationships we’ve been able to retool our factory and supply chain, and expand sales to three nations and 12 states in the US. AppVizo also exhibited at the showcase and established new customer relationships that enabled them to continue the self funding of their product AZTechMS. More recently, SkyraiderUAV has taken part in insurance industry pitch events at ATDC to help them further close in on their objective to support agriculture through the drone technologies.

Looking for a low barrier to entry? Once a month we co-host Beer & Bytes, an after hours networking event highlighting startups and connecting all those interested in the business of technology. From creative website designers, to angel investors to software developers eager to meet their co-founder for the next big thing.

If it isn’t obvious already, ATDC membership is essential for anyone in the Augusta area that is serious about starting and scaling a technology business. What may not have been obvious, is how easy this help is to obtain. Membership in ATDC is free, YES FREE, to all members of theClubhou.se.

So if you have not joined yet, do so or admit that you aren’t all that serious about growing your company.

Sincerely,

Eric
